The Aerican Empire is a micronation with some (mostly disputable) physical land claims, but mostly existing on the Internet. A few hundred members participate in the Empire's mailing list, overseen by the Emperor Eric Lis, discussing world news/politics, subjects of personal interest, and particularly silly things, as this is a focus of the Empire.
The flag is based off the Canadian flag, but with the maple leaf being replaced by a yellow smiley face (representing silliness, a core tenet of the customary state religion as well as a reality of daily life) on a white field with a red hoist and fly. Each colony of Aerica stands united behind the flag of the Empire, but as each has its own unique culture, so too does each have its own flag.
