The flag of Amarillo, Texas, is a blue background with two borders of yellow and red. At the center contains a globe with red waters and a map of North and Central America, with its' location marked by a red star. A depiction of the longhorn's head sits on top of the globe. At the bottom of the globe, is a white ribbon saying "IN CHARTA" in white, and in a Stencil D font, adorned by blue bonnets, and a white cowboy hat.[1] It was adopted in 1941 and was designed by Colonel Edward Raley.
It was discovered in a book titled "In the Cattle Country: History of Potter County". After its' discovery, The Crouch Foundation, which owns Arts in The Sunset, contacted Chris Johnson to re-create a replica. Now Arts in the Sunset, had presented two copies of the flag to both the City Council and The Chamber of Commerce during a meeting.[2] We still don't know information about the flag yet.
Unofficial flag[]
The unofficial flag of Amarillo, Texas, is a white background with the city's seal in the center. We also don't know much about the flag, but it served as an alternate after the 1941 flag was forgotten.[1]
