The flag of Arkansas is red with a white diamond with a blue border. The blue border is thick enough to contain 25 white stars. In the white diamond is the word "ARKANSAS" with one blue star above it and three blue stars below it, with two placed at an equal height above the other, which is below the midpoint between the two higher stars.
Symbolism[]
The diamond shape on the flag represents the diamond gem. Arkansas is the only state in America to have natural diamonds. Its name is written in blue all-caps inside the diamond. The 25 stars in the diamond's blue border represent Arkansas becoming the 25th state in America. The star above the name "ARKANSAS" represents the Confederacy", and the three stars below "ARKANSAS" represent Spain, France, and the United States. The former two countries represent the fact that Arkansas was a part of both the French and Spanish Louisiana. Red, white, and blue are the colors of the flag of the United States and France.
