The flag of Aroostook County, Maine, consists of an uneven green and white tricolor, - which is similar to the Nigeria flag in Africa. In the centre of the white strip is the outline of the county's map and to the bottom left of this outline is the date of incorporation, 1839.

Symbolism[]

Not much is known about the colours but the most plausible meaning is that the major colour (which is green) represents the most of the county being forest and fields and the white could probably represent the location and temperature of where the county is located: the north where the temperature can reach 14 degrees fahrenheit which is 10 degrees celsius or due to the fact that it has an emerging hub for wind power. The outline represents that it is Aroostook County and the establishment date means when the county was created.
