The flag of Ashland, Nebraska, is an illustration of a sunrise peaking over the blue horizon and a ribbon of white light blue indicating water.[2]
Symbolism[]
- The blue not only symbolizes water, but also the big skies of Nebraska’s open spaces, and it also brings about feelings of loyalty, sincerity and freedom.
- The sun was included in the design to denote optimism, and it made sense because the city had a bright future.
- Its' yellow color also honors the state flower, the goldenrod, and the state bird, the Western meadlowlark.[1]
