The flag of the Black Lives Matter Protests is simply a black field with bold text reading "BLACK LIVES MATTER", with the word "LIVES" inside a white rectangle with black lettering. The flag is now commonly flown in protests since 2020 and is the most commonly used BLM protest flag.

History[]

The design above was adopted as the racial injustice and BLM protests in 2020 after the death of African American George Floyd. This event led to the popularization of the campaign in the United States. Since then, this design has been the quintessential flag for the BLM movement.

Sexual orientation/gender identity variations[]

Rainbow fist/stripe[]

A black flag with an encircled fist (in the LGBTQ+ flag colors) has been sold online.[1] Another flag has a rainbow strip on the fly edge.[2]

Transgender variation[]

This flag is black with “BLACK TRANS LIVES MATTER” in white text. On the bottom, there is a stripe with the transgender flag colors.[3]
