The flag of Botswana consists of a light blue background, with three horizontal stripes in the center of the flag (top to bottom: white, black, white). The white stripes are thinner than the black one.

Symbolism

The black and white stripes represent racial cooperation and equality, the light blue background represent the sky and water, which is a scarce and precious resource in the Kalahari Desert, which covers much of Botswana.

Other flags

The country's presidential standard consists of a light blue background, with a white circle in the center, containing the national coat of arms of Botswana inside, and a thick black border around it.

The flag of the Botswana Defence Force, is the national flag of Botswana, with the national colours swapped for a green field under a red stripe. A variant of the defence force's emblem is in the center of the flag. The ensign of the Defence Force Air Wing, removes the defence force's coat of arms.
