The flag of Brunei Darussalam is yellow with two dexter stripes (white on top, black on bottom) across the whole flag. In the centre of the flag is a stylized representation of the national emblem.
Symbolism[]
The yellow represents the Sultan of Brunei, the absolute monarch who rules the country. The black and white stripes represent his two chief ministers. The coat of arms depict; a crescent representing Islam, a parasol above it symbolizing royalty, and 2 hands on the side represent the benevolence of the government. On the crescent is "Always render service by the guidance of God" written in Arabic, and below it is a ribbon with the phrase "Brunei, The Abode of Peace".[3]
