The flag of Cardiff (Welsh: Caerdydd) represents Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. It is a banner of arms and was adopted on 26 August 1906.
The flag's design features the same imagery as the city's coat of arms. It features a red dragon holding the flag of Glamorgan upon a mound. A leek is visible as well as a pink flower.
Symbolism[]
The red dragon is a national symbol of Wales, and can be seen on the country's flag. The mound that the dragon is on represents Wales' hilly and mountainous terrain. The dragon is holding the flag of Glamorgan, this represents the historic county that Cardiff was located in. The leek growing from the ground is also a national symbol of Wales.
