The flag of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is a white background with green rectangles/squares on the top, bottom, and center, and a purple crown in the center.

Symbolism[]

The crown represents the city being the seat of Queens County, and underlines the city's importance as the provincial capital and an important landmark in the Canadian Federation. The green rectangle which surrounds the crown represents Queens Square (where the provincial capital is) while the other smaller squares are parks, and the green thinner rectangles on the top and bottom emulates the same ones in the Prince Edward Island flag.[1]

Former flag[]

Charlottetown (former flag)

The former flag of Charlottetown is a gray background with the city's seal in the center. The city's seal consisted of a British ship arriving on the shore which, has a rock in it, with a white ribbon saying "INCORPORATED", on the shore are the words "Ad. 1855". On the outside parts of the seal are the words "City of CHARLOTTETOWN, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND".[2]
