The flag of Cocoa Beach, Florida, consists of the upper half — red with a white silhouette of a dolphin, and the lower half — dark blue with three horizontal wavy white stripes.
The flag was designed by Joey Vicidomini, and was unveiled during the city's centennial celebration.[1]
Symbolism[]
The red represents Cocoa Beach's beautiful sunsets and nods to the city's location in the Sunshine State. The white represents the space program that the Space Coast thrives on. The blue represents the beaches and waterways enjoyed by all. The dolphin symbol pays tribute to the marine ecosystem that the area is dependent on and protective of. A dolphin was chosen because they can be found in both the Banana River and the Atlantic Ocean. The dolphin's left-to-right jump represents Cocoa Beach's move toward a bright future, and the nontraditional movement reflects the city's young age and mindset.[2][3]
