The flag of the American state of Colorado (Spanish for "colored red") consists of three equal-width horizontal stripes (blue, white, blue). To the left of the center of the flag is a large stylized letter C, with a yellow circle inside.
Symbolism[]
The symbolism of Colorado's flag's colors are:
- Blue: Sky
- Red: Ground
- White: Snow
- Yellow: Sun
The red C represents the first letter in Colorado.
The red C also represents the fact that Colorado's name means "colored red" in Spanish.
The flag's colors, while so are the Colorado seal's main colors, are borrowed from the flags of the United States and Spain, the latter of which represents the fact that Colorado was discovered by the Spanish as a part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
