The flag of Davenport, Iowa, is a white background with stripes of red, white, and blue. Separating the stripes, is a white square with a yellow border and the city's symbol inside. At the hoist, is a blue square with a yellow border, reading "1836" inside. At the bottom of the square and stripes, are the words "CITY OF DAVENPORT", in blue.
Symbolism[]
The flag's colors are taken from the flags of France, Iowa, and the United States. Red signifies hardiness and valor, white, purity and innocence, and blue, vigilance, perseverance and justice. The yellow represents the "golden rule of treating others as you want to be treated". "1836" is the year of the city's settlementation.[1]
