The green field symbolizes the country's forests, the red disk represents socialism, the ten stars represent the country's ten parishes / administrative districts, the yellow stripes represent the natives, the white stripes represent the Europeans, and the black stripes represent Africans. Together, the yellow, black and white stripes also represent fruit, rivers and rich soil.[3]
