The flag of Ehime Prefecture is the flag of Ehime prefecture , one of the prefectures of Japan . This section also explains the prefectural emblem flag that was used from 1989 ( Heisei 1 ) to 1999 (Heisei 11).
The current prefectural flag consists of three horizontal stripes of yellow, green and yellow in a ratio of 1:3:1 with a white-orange flower in the middle on the trouser side. The flower shows satsuma, the prefectural flower. The white of the petals represents modesty and vitality, the green for peace and hope and the yellow for happiness. It is a simple construction that contains no symbols. The prefectural flag was adopted on May 5, 1952.
The previous prefectural flag was adopted on November 1, 1989 and was a white field with a red, green and blue tricolor emblem in the middle. The emblem had a swirling shape and red represents the sun, green for Mount Ishizuchi and blue for the Inland Sea of Japan. The flag was abolished on May 31, 1999, and the current flag is re-adopted.
