The flag of Entre Ríos is similar to the Flag of Argentina, differing in that it is crossed by a red stripe from the upper left to the lower right corner and that it does not have the May sun. Red punzada is the traditional color of Argentine federalism, so the band refers to the historically federal position of Entre Ríos. With variations in the blue-blue hue was the flag of the Republic of Entre Ríos and that of the Free Peoples or Federal League led by José Gervasio Artigas.
