The flag of the Flags of the World website is an unequal vertical bicolor of white and blue with 6 stars. The flag was created on November 11, 1995, and adopted on March 8, 1996.

Symbolism[]

The white on the hoist represents peace, the blue on the fly represents progress. The six colors of the stars are the main colors used in flags. The stars help to make one bigger symbol. The way the stars are all connected to each other represents the Internet.

Adoption[]

The flag was chosen in March 1996 by members of the FOTW mailing list among eleven proposals.[1]

Bidecadal Flag[]

FOTW (bidecadel)

The bidecadal flag of Flags of the World is an uneven vertical bicolor of white and blue. Between the white and blue stripes are six five-pointed stars in a pentagon. The white and yellow stars have red and blue inside. On the hoist of the flag is "XX".

The flag was designed by Pete Loeser, based on Mark Sensen's flag, and using elements from both suggested flag designs by Clay Moss, and Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg.

Symbolism[]

The two stars have different colors inside them, representing two decades. X is the roman numeral for 10, and two X's is the roman numeral for 20, meaning that the two X's represent 20, for the 20th anniversary of the site.
