The flag of Fremont, California, are 13 red and white stripes with a blue canton. Inside the blue canton, is an eagle with 13 stars on the top and bottom.

Symbolism[]

The 26 states represent the 26 stars in the union at the time the original flag was created (1842). The city is said to use the peace pipe in the eagle’s talons in the belief that Native Americans seeing the flag would understand it better than another traditional European symbol.[1] The flag is based on the banner of General Fremont.

2004 NAVA survey[]

The flag scored a total of 6.79, and ranked 20th on the 2004 NAVA City Flag Survey, behind Colorado Springs, and ahead of Dallas.
