The flag of Goiás, Brazil, was created by Joaquim Bonifácio de Siqueira and was established by law No. 650 of July 30, 1919, to symbolize the state. The flags presents a rectangular shape, with eight alternating horizontal stripes: four green stripes, and four yellow stripes. In the top left there's a blue rectangle with five white stars, being a star in each corner, and the lowest in the center.

Symbolism[]

In the flag of Goiás, as the national flag, the green color represents the forests and yellow the color of gold. The blue canton represents the blue sky of Goiás State, and the stars symbolizes the Southern Cross constellation that gave Brazil its primitive names: Vera Cruz and Santa Cruz. This constellation is the most visible in the skies of Goiás State.

The flag's colors - yellow, green, blue, and white - are the same colors on the Brazilian flag. This flag looks much close to the United States flag with Brazil's colors.
