Like other Nordic countries, the cross represents Christianity and general solidarity with the Nordic countries. The red recalls the flag of Denmark Denmark, in which Iceland was a dependency of. The blue and white represent Iceland as they were traditional colors of clothing worn by the people of Iceland.
