The flag of Iceland is a Scandinavian cross design with a blue background and a white cross with a red cross inside it.
Symbolism[]
Like other Nordic countries, the cross represents Christianity and general solidarity with the Nordic countries. The red recalls the flag of Denmark, in which Iceland was a dependency of. The blue and white represent Iceland as they were traditional colors of clothing worn by the people of Iceland.
