The flag of Iraq is a horizontal equal tricolour (red, white, black) with the words "Allah is Great" in green stylized Arabic writing, meaning that the design of the flag is based on the reverse side of the flag and not the obverse. The text is inside the white stripe.

The red, white, and black are from the Arab liberation flag. The green in the middle represents Islam, with the words "God is great" in Arabic.
