The flag of Jackson, Tennessee, is a blue background with a fimbriated pall design consisting of a green pile, and green and blue stripes outlined in white. On the western section of the flag, is a white-outlined blue circle, with a five-pointed star inside it.

Symbolism[]

The circle and star represents its' place as the unofficial "seat" of West Tennessee. The pall design represents a double-arrow, which is a symbol of progress, hope, forward-thinking, and continuous development and improvement. The green and blue bars of the pall represents the connections made in Jackson, by roadway, career, friends, or family. The three passageways represent a distinct passageway into or through Jackson - the roads/highways, the railroad, and the waterways of the Forked Deer.[2]

2022 NAVA survey[]

The flag scored 7.08 / 31st out of 312, an A- on the 2022 NAVA City Flag Survey, behind Madison, and ahead of Columbia.

Before adoption[]

Jackson, Tennessee (design 3)

Flag before adoption

Before adoption, at the flag design contest, it was known as Design #3. It had different thickening for the green and blue stripes at the pall design, a much smaller circle and star, thinner white outlines, six blue small stripes at the green triangle, and the blue stripes from the circle replaced with wavy lines. Those six stripes on the triangle represented the six strums on a guitar, which pays homage to Nashville's music industry. A day after the unveiling, the flag was "modified" to what it is today.[3]
