The flag of Kedah is red in colour, charged with the state crest on the top left corner. The crest includes a shield with the writings Negeri Kedah (meaning State of Kedah) written on it in Malay Jawi scripture, held by a green crescent and enveloped by two stalks of rice tied together. The green crescent signifies the religion of Islam as the state religion.
