The flag of Kennebunkport, Maine, uses Kennebunkport’s blue as a background with a white bar in the center, shows a golden circle fimbriated in white, with an anchor and waves inside.
Symbolism[]
DeBenedictis said his inspiration came from Kennebunkport's nautical history, stunning vistas and beaches.[1]
The blue background symbolizes the ocean and sea and Kennebunkport’s most traditional color. The anchor that appears in the design depicts both the town’s shipbuilding history and fishing trade. The circle on the design represents the sun and the waves that are a “constant as Kennebunkport reaches for tomorrow". The golden circle represents the sun.
2022 NAVA survey[]
The flag reached 24th out of 312 on the 2022 NAVA City Flag Survey, with a score of 7.24 / an A, behind Crystal and ahead of Riverside.
History[]
In an unknown date, Kennebunkport adopted its' official flag. A blue background with the cities' name on top, the city's name in maritime flag version in the center, and "MAINE" written in the bottom.
