Key West, Florida does not have an official flag. The flag of the micronation of the Conch Republic is used unofficially. The flag is a blue background with a golden sun with a flaming corona in the center of the flag, with a pink conch shell inside of it. Two constellations are also on the flag. On the lower left-hand corner is the constellation of the Southern Cross, and on the upper right-hand side is the constellation of Cygnus, also known as The Swan or the Northern Cross. Also seen on the upper right-hand side next to the constellation is the year 1828, the incorporation year of the city of Key West and Monroe County. The name of the city of Key West can be seen on the lower left-hand side, while the name of the micronation of the Conch Republic can be seen curved on the top.

Symbolism[]

The blue background represents the blue skies of Key West, the pink conch shell represents the natives, the sun represents the fact that the sun always shines in Key West. The Northern Cross was chosen for the flag because it is a well recognized sky guide, and shines where the Milky Way splits into parallel streams. The Southern Cross was chosen because it can be seen from Key West at certain times of the year. Because both crosses as a symbol is used by Christianity, both the Northern and Southern Crosses on the flag acknowledge thankfulness to God for the many blessings bestowed upon Key West.
