The flag of Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, is an even horizontal bicolor with white on top and red on the bottom. In the top-left corner, which is in the white upper stripe, is the city’s coat of arms without the yellow background. It is believed that the colors of the flag have the same meaning as others in the area, such as Bremen or Brandenburg.
Symbolism[]
The bicolor originates from the shield that the two-headed eagle is holding in the city’s coat of arms. It can be still seen on the flag.
