The flag of Laos has a two small red stripes at the top and bottom of the flag, with a large blue stripe, which is equal in size to the two red stripes, in the center. Upon the blue stripe is a white disc.

The Red stripes represent the blood shed in the country's fight for independence. The blue stands for Laos' wealth and prosperity. The white disc symbolizes unity and justice. [3]

The flag has been in use since 1975, after a communist party called the Lao Patriotic Front (also known as Pathet Lao) designed the flag and fought and won a war for independence.
