The flag of Mülheim an der Rehr, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a horizontal bicolor of yellow gold on the top of the flag and red on the bottom of the flag. The flag is sometimes seen with the coat of arms, but it is improper.
The flag with the coat of arms is commonly seen, but according to §4(1) of Hauptsatzung of the city of Mülheim, version June 21 2000, the plain flag would be the only valid flag.[1]
The flag is similar to the flag of Paderborn, just upside down.
Symbolism[]
The colors yellow and red are taken from the coat of arms. The gold is taken from the crown, which is now blending in to the background. The red comes from parts of the shield.
