The former flag of Maricopa County, Arizona is a purple background with a white disc surrounded by 14 yellow stars. In the middle of the disc are the words "MARICOPA COUNTY" in red, and "Arizona" in purple cursive lettering. The flag was adopted on November 9, 1954, and had proportions of 4:5.
