The civil flag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, also known as Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, consists of five horizontal stripes with width ratio 4:3:1:3:4: blue (upper stripe), white, yellow, white, and red.
The state flag is the same, but superimposed with two heraldic figures of a black bull's head and a red griffin on the white stripe.
Symbolism[]
The colours combine the blue-yellow-red flag of Mecklenburg and the light blue-white flag of Pomerania.
The black ox head is a symbol of Mecklenburg, and a red griffin of Pomerania.
