The flag of Metairie, Louisiana, is divided between blue and red by a thick white line. In the blue part are three fleur-de-lis, and in the red part, three coeurs-de-lis, both in triangle arrangements.

Symbolism[]

The fleur-de-lis and coeurs-de-lis represent tradition, wisdom, prosperity, opportunity, faith, innovation, and the area's French-Spanish heritage.[1] The red and blue background and the thin white stripe signify the principles of natural liberty, equal justice and limited, transparent government.[2]

2022 NAVA survey[]

The flag scored 7.17 / 27th out of 312, an A- on the 2022 NAVA City Flag Survey, behind Aberdeen, and ahead of Anaheim.
