The flag of Monaco is an equal horizontal bicolor of red and white.

Symbolism[]

Red and white are the colors of the Grimaldi family which has ruled Monaco since the 1200s. [3]

The flag's colors are based on the shield colors on the Monacan coat of arms. Whereas, the flag has a similar design to the Indonesian flag.
