The flag of Monterey, California, is a background with a cross divided quarterly between green and yellow, and black and white.
Symbolism[]
The white background with the black part of the cross is from the shield of the Count of Monterey, for whom the City was named in 1602. The green background with the yellow part of the cross is based on the City Seal.[1]
