The flag of Montgomery, Alabama, are two bars of grey and red, divided by a diagonal blue stripe fimbriated in white with 11 stars, and an open laurel wreath in the center, with the colors within the wreath (gray and red) are counterchanged, from the top-right is the word "CITY OF", and on the bottom-right is the word "MONTGOMERY".

Symbolism[]

Gray, from the color of the uniforms of the soldiers of the Confederate States of America, represents the Confederacy. Red, the color of the saltire on the state’s flag, symbolizes Alabama. Blue denotes the “blue and gray” unity of today (the uniforms of the Union soldiers during the Civil War were blue). The eleven white stars symbolize the states of the Confederacy.

The flag scored 4.76 / 45th out of 150 on the 2004 NAVA survey, behind Saint Paul, and tied with Topeka.
