The flag of Norfolk Island is a vertical tricolor of green, white and green, with a pine tree in the middle. It was adopted in 1980.
Symbolism[]
The green stripes represent the abundant vegetation on the island, and the pine tree in the middle represents the island's famous indigenous pine tree, the Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla).[1]
Trivia[]
- If the pine tree is removed, it would be the flag of Nigeria.
