The flag of Norway is red with an outlined Scandinavian cross (blue in the center, with a white border).

Symbolism

The cross represents Christianity, red and white are from the flag of Denmark, and blue is from the flag of Sweden. The tricolors denote Norway's independence.

Symbols of the different colors

The colors of the Norway Flag are in a Norwegian song often sung on the national day 17th of May, referred to as symbols of Norway.

• The red color is told to be referring to the red/orange color of a dawn and/or dusk.
• The White color is referring the snow that makes up most of the country's colors during the Winter.
• The blue color theres a bit uncertainty about exactly what refers to, but its either the blue heaven or the blue sea, it's not 100% sure what exactly it is.
