The flag of Paraguay is an equal horizontal tricolour of red, white, and blue. In the centre of the flag is the national seal on the obverse side, and another seal on the reverse side.
Symbolism[]
The red, white and blue are taken from the French flag, to show independence and liberty. On the front in the center is the national coat of arms, with the words "REPUBLICA DEL PARAGUAY". On the back however, is the seal of treasury, which features a lion sitting under a Phrygian cap on a staff, with the words "PAZ Y JUSTICIA", meaning "PEACE AND JUSTICE".
