The flag of the Pitcairn Islands is a blue ensign bearing the Union Jack in the canton (top-left portion of the flag). It bears the coat of arms of the Pitcairn islands, which consists of a shield with an anchor, representing the nation's maritime origins, and a Bible, representing the island's Christian heritage. The green on the shield represents the land rising out of the ocean (the blue). It also bears a helmet topped with a wheelbarrow with a flowering slip of miro, a local plant. The wheelbarrow and plant represent the island's agriculture.
