The flag of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a vertical tricolor of black and yellow with the city's coat of arms in the center.

The black and gold can be traced as far back as Sir William Pitt designing the coat of arms in the 1700s. The black and gold is most commonly associated with the Pittsburgh sports teams. All three sports teams (Steelers, Penguins, and the Pirates) have black and gold as their main colors. [1]

2004 NAVA survey[]

The flag scored 6.06 and 24th out of 150 on the 2004 NAVA city flag survey, behind St. Petersburg, and ahead of Albuquerque.
