The flag of Pocatello, Idaho, is a medium-dark cyan-blue background with overlapping pink-red triangles, with the triangle on the left being the largest, and the other triangles getting proportionally smaller, with a yellow compass rose, formed from 8 triangular arms, that are arranged with alternating longer and shorter arms. The southern point and half of each of the southwestern and southeastern points are white, with the rest of the rose being yellow. At the bottom of the flag is one blue and one red stripe. The flag is commonly known as the "Mountains Left".

Symbolism[]

The red triangles represent industry, recreation, and education. The compass rose symbolizes the role of the city as the transportation and trade hub for rail, road, and air, as well as the past, present, and future of the city. The yellow color represents the agricultural ties of the region and the prosperity of the city, while the white color references the snowy peaks of the mountains. The blue background symbolizes the sky and the blue stripe near the bottom of the flag symbolizes the Portneuf River. The design of the flag was meant to represent the history of Indigenous people from the region. It conveys upward motion, signifying positive hope for the future.

2022 NAVA survey[]

The flag reached 11th out of 312 on the 2022 NAVA City Flag Survey, with a score of 7.47, and a grade of an A, behind Kingman, Kansas and ahead of Duluth, Minnesota.

Former flag (2001 - 2017)[]

The flag of Pocatello, Idaho, is the city's logo in the center of a white background. The logo consists of two stylized purple mountains, at the bottom of the mountains, are the words "Proud", "to", and "Be", in a yellow Sans Serif font, with black edges and shadows, between five red thin stripes at its' sides. At the bottom of the text, is the word "Pocatello" in a red Serif font, with a black shadow, and a copyright notice.

The flag scored 1.48 / 150th out of 150 on the 2004 NAVA survey, ranking last in the survey. Ahead of it is the flag of Huntington.
