The flag of Qatar is a vertical bicolour of white and Qatar Maroon. The border between the two divisions is between the hoist and the center, and nonuple serrated.
Symbolism[]
Maroon represents the bloodshed in Qatari wars, white stands for peace, and the nine serrated edges signify Qatar's inclusion of the ninth member of the reconciled Emirates of the Persian Gulf, at the conclusion of the Qatari-British treaty.[2]
Trivia[]
- The near-black colour on the flag was originally maroon, but the local dyes used for the flag faded so dark that the colour was later officially changed. [3]
