The flag of Quebec City, Quebec, is a golden vessel with billowing sails on an azure background with a crenellated white border.[1]
Symbolism[]
The white borders are crenellations, like the ones seen on the castles, and the walls of Quebec City. The white also stands for purity, truth, charity, humility, and victory, while the blue stands for loyalty, sovereignty, knowledge, and serenity. The blue is a dominant color on the city's coat of arms and represents the foundation of its' French origins, as well as the sailing ship signifies the origins of the city. It is a reminder of the city's founder (Samuel de Champlain) and his ship, which helped him sail the Saint Lawrence to found Quebec, for New France on July 3rd 1608, as well the ship signifies Quebec being a major seaport for Canada.[2]
