The flag of Recife, Pernambuco, is a vertical tricolor of blue, white, and blue. In the center, the white stripe, is a lion, holding a red cross with the text "VIRTUS ET FIDES” above it. The lion is a refernce to the coat of arms and Christianity. On the blue stripe to the hoist, there is a golden yellow five-pointed star. On the blue stripe to the fly, there is a 16-point star.

The flag was adopted on December 15, 1973, but was designed by an unknown author.
