The flag of São Tomé and Príncipe consists of three horizontal stripes alternating green and yellow. The yellow stripe, in the centre, is 50% thicker than the two equal green stripes. On the hoist is a red isosceles right pile. In the centre of the yellow stripe are two equal black five-pointed stars in a row.
Symbolism[]
The flag uses the Pan-African colours. The two black five-pointed stars represent the two main islands of São Tomé and Príncipe. The red pile represents the struggle for independence. [4]

Trivia[]
