The flag of Saint Michaels, Maryland, is a blue background with three white wavy lines. On the center is a white stripe, with the sword of Archangel Michael, with its' scabbard being in the colors of the Maryland flag. It is currently unknown when the flag was adopted. The Saint Michaels Museum (which holds the copyright to the flag) says the flag was adopted in 1970[1], while CRW Flags (known as FOTW in the city's flag page), says it was adopted in June of 2019[2].

Symbolism[]

It refers to Saint Michaels-on-the-Waters with its sword of the Archangel Michael in the colors of Maryland. The white waves refer to the narrow spit of land that St. Michaels sits on between the Miles River and San Domingo Creek, and the blue background recalls the sailors’ wish for “fair wind and blue water.”[1]

2022 NAVA survey[]

The flag reached 94th out of 312 on the 2022 NAVA City Flag Survey, with a score of 5.44 / a B-, tied with Johnstown, and ahead of Lisbon.
