The flag of Slovenia is an equal horizontal tricolour of white, blue, and red. The Slovenian coat of arms is placed in the canton of the flag.

Symbolism[]

White, blue, and red, are Pan-Slavic colours, and the coat of arms represents the nation of Slovenia. It is also used to distinguish the flag from that of Russia.

Coat of arms[]

The coat of arms of Slovenia is located in the canton of the national flag. The three golden stars represent Slovenian independence. The wavy stripes represent the country's rivers entering the Adriatic Sea. The mountains represent the many Slovenian mountainous regions.

History[]

Other flags[]

The presidential standard is a white background with two borders of blue and red, with the Slovenian coat of arms in the center.

The flag of the National Assembly's president uses a blue border over a red background, with the national coat of arms also in the center. The flag of the prime minister swaps the colors of the border and background.

The same thing goes for the flags of the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff, which swap the Slovenian emblem for the one of the Slovenian Army.

Both the naval jack and the armed forces flag use the Slovenian tricolor. The naval jack swaps the red for yellow, while the armed forces flag adds the emblem of the Slovenian emblem, and some text around it in yellow, which translates to "Republic of Slovenia - Slovene Army".
