The flag of South Holland, Netherlands, has a plain yellow background with a red lion, near the hoist of the flag, facing left. The current flag is inspired by the coat of arms of the province[1].

History[]

The current flag was proposed by the state on October 15, 1985. The redesigned the flag to resemble the Holland coat of arms (from before the province split). The lion resembled the always victorious lion of Judah. The flag became official January 1, 1986.
