The unofficial flag, that is used most commonly, of South Yorkshire, a ceremonial county in Northern England.

The design structure consists of a white line with waves and curves around ¾ in the flag. Above that, is a green background at the top of the background and below the line is a light pink background. To the right hand side of the flag and on the white waved line, is a logo and on the top of it is a white rose with a pink outline and at the bottom, stylised text saying SY.

Symbolism[]

Because this flag is unofficial, some of the information around symbolism regarding this flag may be lost.

The white wave that separates the two backgrounds could possibly represent the River Don that flows across the county which also played a significant role in the industrial development of Sheffield and Rotherham which is contained in South Yorkshire. The green background most likely represents the valleys and nature in the county but is split unevenly by the pink area which probably represents all of the buildings, cities and towns contained in the county although the reason why it is pink is unknown.

The white rose on the flag is the Yorkshire Rose, symbolising the county's location in the boundaries of the historical county of Yorkshire. The text on the flag reads SY, the county's initials which is stylised to form the stem of the rose.
