Symbolism[]
The golden colour of the flag is related to the colour depicted on the coat of arms of the kray. It symbolizes Stauropolia as a sunny southern region of Russia, region of agriculture, golden ears of wheat, and the Golden Fleece. The golden colour symbolizes prosperity and fertility of Stavropolskiy Kray.
White colour symbolizes purity of intentions, peacefulness, and wisdom.
The cross reflects the name of the administrative centre of the kray Stavropol (Σταυροπολις (Stauropolis) means "the city of the cross" in Greek). It also denotes that Stavropol is the seat of North Caucasian eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.
