The flag of Tampa, Florida, is a white backdrop with a bunch of red, blue, yellow, and green stripes, and 16 stars scattered around the flag, in an unknown side is the city's seal. It's one of the non-quadrilateral flags in use, after Nepal, and Ohio.
Symbolism[]
The various bars and stripes represent the national flags of the immigrants who settled the area: France, Great Britain (now called current day United Kingdom), and the United States (red, white and blue); Italy (green, white, and red); and Spain (red and yellow). The flag hides "H" for Hillsborough County, "T" for Tampa, and "F" for Florida.
The ship is a rendition of the Mascotte, which was owned by Henry B. Plant, also known as "The King of Florida". Henry B. Plant helped the city flourish and prosper.
2004 NAVA survey[]
The flag scored 3.97 / 79th out of 150 on the 2004 NAVA City Flag Survey, behind San Jose, and ahead of Baton Rouge.
